Bachelor of Office and Information Management (BOIM)
Introduction
Bachelor of Office and Information Management program was previously being offered as a stand-alone degree program approved by Senate in 2002. The program was split from the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program which was one of the options in the BBA program. The BOIM program was last reviewed in 2007 and currently it is being submitted as Bachelor of Office and Information Management (BOIM) in the current review. The program was previously running as both Day and Evening, however, it is purely a Day program.
Admission Requirements
Admission into the first year is through any of the following avenues:
- Direct Entry Scheme:
- At least two (2) principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), one of which must be in Mathematics, Commerce, Economics, or Business Studies; and
- At least five (5) passes at Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent.
- Diploma Holders Scheme:
- Diploma in Office Administration, Information Management, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution with at least a Second Class (Lower Division).
- Degree Holders Scheme:
- Degree in any business, administration, or ICT-related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Professional Qualifications Scheme:
- Recognized professional qualifications such as ICMA, ACCA, CIPS, or other equivalent ICT/administration certificates.
- Mature Age Entry Scheme:
- Candidates aged 25 years and above who have passed the Makerere University Mature Age Entry Examinations in both aptitude and specialized subjects relevant to the programme.
