Diploma in Business Computing(DBC)

Introduction

The Diploma in Business Computing is a combination of business and technology services focusing on advising businesses on how best to use information technology to meet their business objectives. The Diploma in Business computing is intended to;

  • Introduce students to the field of Information Technology and the business domain.
  • Equip learners with practical vocational computer skills needed at the work place.
  • Help students obtain a detailed understanding of the workings of commercial computerized systems in solving business related problems.
  • Provide a solid academic and technical background that would enable them to pursue higher studies in business computing or other related fields.

Admission Requirements

  • Direct Entry (UACE Route)
  • Applicants must have:
    • Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 passes
    • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with 1 principal pass and 2 subsidiary passes obtained in one sitting
    • Equivalent qualifications recognized by NCHE
  • Certificate Holders Scheme
  • Applicants must have:
    • A Certificate in Business Computing, ICT, Computer Applications, or a related field from a recognized institution
    • A minimum of a Credit or Upper Pass
  • Degree Holders Scheme (optional where applicable)
    • Degree holders seeking ICT-business integration skills may be admitted.
  • Mature Age Entry Scheme (if offered)
    • Must be 25 years or older
    • Must pass a recognized Mature Age Examination accredited by NCHE
  • Higher Education Certificate (HEC) Route (if recognized)
    • A Higher Education Certificate in ICT or Science/Math track with at least Class C

Program Details

  • Duration: 2 years (4 semesters), each semester 17 weeks
  • Mode of Study: Day, Evening, or Weekend (depending on campus schedule)
  • Campus: Faculty of Computing and Informatics / Main Campus.
  • Award: Diploma in Business Computing.
