Bachelor of Leisure, Events and Hotel Management (BLEHM)
Introduction
The Bachelor of Leisure, Events and Hotel Management (BLEHM) was developed through the merger of the former Bachelor of Leisure and Hospitality Management (BLHM) and the Bachelor of Catering and Hotel Management (BCHM) programmes. This new integrated programme provides a broader and more dynamic approach to the leisure, tourism, and hospitality industries.
The curriculum is designed to equip students with managerial, entrepreneurial, and operational skills necessary for success in leisure, events, and hospitality sectors. Students can specialize in one of the three optional areas based on their career interests:
- Leisure and Recreation Management
- Events and Entertainment Management
- Catering and Hotel Management
Admission Requirements
- Admission into the first year is through any of the following avenues:
- Direct Entry: Applicants with at least two principal passes at the same sitting in relevant subjects in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent.
- Diploma Holders Scheme: Candidates holding a relevant diploma in Tourism, Leisure, Hotel, or Catering Management from a recognized institution.
- Professional Qualifications: Holders of relevant professional qualifications in hospitality or tourism management may be considered.
- Mature Age Entry Scheme: Candidates aged 25 years and above who have passed the Makerere University Mature Age Entry Examinations.
