Introduction

The PhD in Energy Economics and Governance is designed to equip candidates with advanced analytical, research, and policy development skills in the management and governance of energy resources. Admission Requirements

  • Admission to the programme is open to qualified applicants from all countries who meet the following criteria:

  • Master’s Degree Requirement:
    • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Economics, Energy Economics, Governance, or a related discipline with taught courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Econometrics.
    • Candidates without these courses at Master’s level must have completed them at postgraduate level or undertake bridging modules before admission.
  • Academic Recognition:
    • All degrees and postgraduate diplomas must be from institutions recognized by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) or an equivalent international accreditation body.
  • Professional References:
    • Applicants must provide at least two academic or professional references attesting to their ability and suitability to undertake doctoral-level research.
  • Special Consideration:
    • Holders of a Master of Energy Economics and Governance (MEEG) will only be required to take the generic advanced courses before progressing to the research phase.
