Introduction

The Diploma in Catering and Hotel entails a thorough background in the hospitality industry. Areas of study include; front office operations and management, food and beverage services and marketing of hotel and catering services.

Diploma graduates are the practically skilled and hands on workers. They are the ones on the shop floor, in production, service and in the field making money for the hospitality business. They should, therefore, as technicians be practically efficient in making and serving quality products to customers.


Admission Requirements

  • Direct Entry (UACE Route)
  • Applicants must have:
    • Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 passes.
    • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with 1 principal pass and 2 subsidiary passes obtained in one sitting.
    • Equivalent qualifications recognized by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
  • Certificate Holders Scheme
  • Applicants must have:
    • A Certificate in Catering, Hotel Management, Tourism, or any related field from a recognized institution.
    • A minimum of a Credit or Upper Pass (depending on institutional policy).
  •  Degree Holders Scheme (optional if institution allows)
    • Applicants with a degree in any field who wish to acquire specialized hospitality skills.
  •  Mature Age Entry Scheme (optional where applicable)
    • Must be 25 years or older and have passed a recognized mature age examination.
  • Higher Education Certificate (HEC) Route (optional based on NCHE policy)
    • A Higher Education Certificate (Hospitality/Arts Track) with at least a Class C.

Program Details

  •  Duration: 2 years (4 semesters), each semester lasting 17 weeks
  •  Mode of Study: Day, Evening, or Weekend (depending on campus schedule)
  •  Campus: Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality and Languages / Main Campus.
  • Award: Diploma in Catering and Hotel Operations.
