Dear all, Reference is made to the letter dated 27 August 2026, in which the Office of the Academic Registrar, Makerere University, communicated the decision to grant approval for the preparation and administration of supplementary examinations for eligible final-year students. The examinations are intended to enable qualifying students to complete their academic requirements and graduate at the 77^th Makerere University Graduation Ceremony scheduled for January 2027.

The Principal has approved the administration of supplementary examinations at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) from 8 to 11 September 2026. These examinations will be administered to only students who have two retakes outstanding and who previously failed the respective retakes with scores ranging from 30% to 49% for undergraduate students and 40% to 59% for postgraduate students.

The purpose of this communication is therefore to:

1. Inform you about the decision to run supplementary examinations at MUBS to enable students who have only two retakes to graduate at the 77^th Makerere University Graduation Ceremony scheduled for January 2027.
2. Request you to register your interest to retake supplementary examinations with your respective departments.
3. Also inform you that accessing these examinations will require you to pay a prorated rate of fees and to register thereafter.
4. Present the evidence of clearance from your respective departments and the School Bursar to the Office of the School Registrar for verification and clearance for supplementary examinations.

Please note:

1.That all students who are planning to undertake these supplementary examinations should have been registered by Makerere University and should present evidence of this registration (photocopy of the Makerere University registration form).

2.  Eligibility Criteria

A student shall be eligible to sit a supplementary examination where he or she:

a)     Applied for the Supplementary Examination within the prescribed period

b)     Registered for the relevant course

c)   fulfilled all the prescribed coursework requirements for the respective course unit;

d)  sat the ordinary University examination and obtained a final mark within the ranges of 30% to 49% for undergraduate, and 40% to 59% for postgraduate students;

e)   Failed not more than two (2) course units in the final year of study;

f)   Has not been deregistered or discontinued from their academic programmes on academic grounds;

g)   Has no outstanding disciplinary sanctions that prohibit sitting University examinations

h)  Has not been found guilty of examination and malpractice in the course concerned;

i)    Has fulfilled all prescribed financial obligations to the University; and satisfies any additional programme-specific requirements approved by Senate.

3.  Eligible Course Units 

 A student may apply for supplementary examinations in failed course units offered during Semester One and Semester Two of the same Final Academic Year.
