CALL FOR PAPERS FOR THE 5TH WOMEN IN CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE 2026

Makerere University Business School (MUBS), together with Women in Climate Change Partners will host the 5th Women in Climate Change Action Conference (WICCA) on July 16 -17 2026. The Research Symposium will be held on July 16th, 2026. The Conference is under the theme “CrossBorder Market Access and Export Readiness for Women in the Circular and Green Sector,”

The 5th Annual Women in Climate Change Action Conference (WiCCA2026) arrives at a decisive moment for global climate action and gender equality. In 2025, the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) advanced the development of a new Gender Action Plan for 2026–2034 (SBI 63, agenda item 18). This nine-year framework, recommended for adoption by the Conference of the Parties at its thirtieth session (COP 30), therefore, there is a growing recognition that gender-responsible climate action is essential to achieving the Paris Agreement, the Global Biodiversity Framework, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS), particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

WiCCA 2026 will translate global commitments into local action by connecting women to green finance, documenting their innovations, and amplifying their voices through media and research. This therefore serves to call for all interested individuals to submit their research papers in relation to the above mentioned theme. Submission deadline is on 30th May 2026.
