Reminder on Submission of Research Papers for the 5th Women in Climate Change Action Conference (WiCCA 2026)

Makerere University Business School, in partnership with Women in Climate Change partners, will host the 5th Women in Climate Change Action Conference (WiCCA 2026) on July 16–17, 2026. The Research Symposium will take place on July 16, 2026.

The conference will be held under the theme“Cross-Border Market Access and Export Readiness for Women in the Circular and Green Sector”

The 5th Annual Women in Climate Change Action Conference comes at a critical time for global climate action and gender equality. In 2025, the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) advanced the development of a new Gender Action Plan for 2026–2034 under SBI 63, Agenda Item 18. This nine-year framework is expected to be adopted during the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP 30).

There is growing global recognition that gender-responsive climate action is essential for achieving the Paris Agreement, the Global Biodiversity Framework, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 5 – Gender Equality, SDG 13 – Climate Action, SDG 15 – Life on Land.

WiCCA 2026 aims to translate global commitments into local action by connecting women to green finance opportunities, documenting women-led innovations, and amplifying women’s voices through media and research.

This is therefore a reminder to all interested individuals to submit research papers related to the conference theme.

Submission Deadline: June 10, 2026
