About the Campus
The MUBS Regional Campus – Jinja was established in 2006 by the MUBS Council, with the aim of extending Business & Management education to the people to the eastern part of Uganda and surrounding areas. This was further intended to extend affordable outreach education services to the nearby communities of the eastern part of Uganda, as opposed to students having to travel long distances to kampala.
The MUBS Jinja campus is the largest campus out of the four campuses that MUBS has in the regional towns of Uganda. MUBS has deliberately made education at the regional campuses cheaper than at the main campus in Kampala as part of the effort to decongest Kampala and as part of the effort to ensure that Ugandans has access to relatively cheap but high-quality education. It has attracted thousands of students because of its quality of programmmes. Its programmmes prepare young people for careers in both business and non business areas.

Message from the Campus Chief
Welcome to Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Jinja Campus.
We thank you for choosing MUBS. You have not only made the right decision regarding your programme, but also in choosing the right place to pursue it. After Kampala, Jinja is one of Uganda’s most important cities perhaps even more significant because of its uniqueness.
So, what makes Jinja Campus unique? Historically, Jinja was once the industrial hub of East Africa. It hosted numerous industries and employed large numbers of people, including nationals from Rwanda, Kenya, and other parts of the region. Its uniqueness is further highlighted by the fact that Jinja is the source of the world’s longest river the River Nile which begins its nearly 4,000-mile journey from this very town. The River Nile is one of the world’s most remarkable natural landmarks. It also explains why many industries were established in Jinja, as just a short distance downstream lies the famous Owen Falls Dam, which generated electricity not only for Uganda but for the wider region.
MUBS Jinja Campus is the largest of the four regional campuses of Makerere University Business School across Uganda. As part of its deliberate strategy to decongest Kampala and expand access to affordable, high-quality education, MUBS offers its programmes at regional campuses at a relatively lower cost compared to the main campus. This initiative has attracted thousands of students who value quality education at an affordable cost.
The programmes offered at MUBS Jinja Campus prepare students for careers in both business and non-business fields. Over the years, MUBS has continued to produce excellent graduates who are now serving in and leading various organizations across the country. The Jinja Campus remains a leading institution of higher learning in the Jinja and Busoga region.
We therefore invite you to join us and be part of this vibrant academic community.
