The Principal of Makerere University Business School, Prof. Moses Muhwezi, today 4th June officiated the 3rd Stakeholders’ Engagement Meeting organized by the Department of Leisure, Events and Hospitality Management.
The engagement brought together industry practitioners, employers, alumni, academic staff, and other key stakeholders to discuss emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges within the leisure, events, and hospitality sectors. The meeting provided a platform for strengthening collaboration between academia and industry to ensure that academic programmes remain relevant and responsive to the evolving needs of the job market.
In his remarks, Prof. Muhwezi emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement in enhancing the quality of training, promoting innovation, and producing graduates equipped with practical skills and industry-relevant competencies through competency-based learning and learner-centred teaching. He commended the Department for creating opportunities that foster partnerships and continuous improvement in teaching, research, and community engagement.
Participants shared insights on industry expectations, technological advancements, sustainable hospitality practices, and strategies for improving graduate employability. The discussions are expected to contribute to curriculum improvement and strengthen the School’s commitment to producing graduates who can effectively serve the hospitality industry.
