Principal’s End of Year message 2023

December 18, 2023

Dear Makerere University Business School Community,

Greetings from the Principal’s Office. The Lord be blessed for you. For us to have completed the year is a demonstration of God’s amazing love for humanity. For all of you who had successes and breakthroughs, I do celebrate with you. For those who had challenges like loss of your dear ones, my heart goes out to you.

On behalf of management, I heartily thank you for all you have managed to accomplish as individuals and as a team. Very many achievements; academic, administrative and financial have been recorded. MUBS will present a very big number of undergraduate and graduate students at the Makerere University 74th graduation ceremony. We have had staff promotions to top academic positions, curricula for all programmes have been reviewed, new programmes are in final stages of approval by the National Council for Higher Education, many of our support staff colleagues have had permanent contracts, successful workshops and conferences have been held, value adding MOUs have been signed with our stakeholders, my office has reached out to all categories of staff and the list goes on and on. All of you have contributed to such wonderful achievements and I unreservedly thank you.

Dear colleagues, management acknowledges the main staff challenge; that of PTH. I have personally put in all my effort to deal with the challenge. Strategies have been put in place to deal with it. Following government procedures and continuous consultations with government officials are some of the strategies we have put in place. The PTH puzzle will be solved. The other challenges will be progressively dealt with as and when resources allow. I appeal to you to have trust in management and to support our efforts. Stand up and be counted in the process of having a united, fair and happy MUBS.

The true meaning of Christmas is about peace within our hearts and with others, forgiving and reconciling with each other, giving to the disadvantaged members of society and visiting relatives. Try out some or all of these. I know it is difficult to worship God amidst a storm, but please do it.

I want to thank all of you colleagues for that great support you have rendered me as your team leader for the last seven months. My prayer is that God blesses you and your dear ones. May God scatter any darkness before your paths in 2024.

Merry Christmas and happy new year.
